October Programs Guide For All: Children, Youth, Families, and Adults

Celebrating Unity & Diversity This October

This October, All Souls is celebrating the theme of Unity and Diversity, with exciting opportunities for children, youth, adults, and families. Our Children’s and Youth Religious Exploration is in full swing, and we have several events and gatherings designed to connect and inspire our community throughout the month.

Below, you'll find details on weekly programs and key dates to remember. Be sure to mark your calendars and check back for updates!


Weekly Programming and Childcare for Children & Youth

Every Sunday at 10AM:

  • Sunday School (grades k-5)
  • Cherub Choir (grades 1-3)
  • Our Whole Lives (OWL) (grades 4-6)
  • Building a Better World (grades 6-8)
  • Coming of Age (9th grade)
Children engage in painting activities in the Presidents Room, expressing creativity through art.

Every Sunday at 11:30AM:

  • Sunday School (grades K-5)
  • Children's Choir (grades 4-7)
  • Middle school gets creative with Journaling in Room 128
  • Youth meet in the Sponge Room from 11:30AM-1:30PM for lunch, fellowship, and religious exploration, including:
    • Looking at the Bible from an historical perspective with Gary Peluso Verdend, President Emeritus of Phillips Theological Seminary;
    • Creating their own podcasts on issues that are important to them today.
    • And more!

Childcare At All Souls:

Childcare is available for pre-K and younger every Sunday from 9:45AM-12:30PM with trained, background checked, and vetted staff members.

Wednesday Community Connections

Week Of October 1-6

  • October 5-6: Choir Camp at Camp Loughridge
    • For more information, or to join and of the children’s choirs, contact Toni Viles at [email protected].
  • October 6: Adult Programming Teams Meeting | Alliance Room | 9AM:
    • If you are a member and are interested in helping create and implement programs for adults at All Souls, please come to this meeting and/or contact our Volunteer & Programs Coordinator, Quanah Scoggins, at [email protected].
  • October 6: Pet Blessing | 10 & 11:30AM:
    • Please email a picture of you with your pets to [email protected] and include you and your pets' names! Please send your pictures in by October 2.
  • October 6: Children's & Youth Choirs
    • Our Children's and Youth choirs will perform at the 10AM and 11:30AM services on Sunday, October 2nd.
  • October 6: Youth Greenwood Walking Tour | Noon - 2PM:
    • Carlos Moreno, noted 1921 Race Massacre Historian and All Souls Member, will lead high school youth, grades 9-12, on a Walking Tour of Greenwood. Participants will learn more about the history of "Black Wall Street" and discuss inaccurate myths leading up to this atrocity. Carlos will also discuss the perpetrator's implicated, as well as the local and national significance of this Tulsa landmark, and the local connections leading to its demise.

Week Of October 7-13

  • October 10-12: Senior Spirit Quest:
    • High school seniors are invited to a special retreat at the Osage Forest of Peace with Shannon Boston and Corey Smith to mark their capstone year with the Youth Department at All Souls. This three-day trip will be filled with introspection and deep sharing as we weave together all that these youth have learned and experienced as Unitarian Universalists and begin to fashion what will become our Youth Sunday service in April of 2025.

  • October 13: Children and Youth Team Meeting | 12:30-2:00PM | Alliance Room:
    • Let's plan a Halloween Party and a whole lot more! All interested should contact Quanah Scoggins at [email protected].

Week Of October 14 - 20

  • October 16: Youth Jams:
    • Youth Jams starts on Wednesday Nights in the Choir Room. Are you a youth? Do you play an instrument? Can you carry a tune? Would you like to be in a band? Come hang out and get your groove on! We'll be noodling around and beginning to prepare some tunes for Youth Sunday this Spring. Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30PM.
  • October 18-19-20: Women of All Souls Sacred Sexuality Retreat:
    • Join the Women of All Souls for a fall retreat focusing on Sacred Sexuality. Explore the beauty, trauma, and power associated with women’s sexuality in a safe, healing, and creative space. Guests can expect open conversation around sexuality and pleasure, healing exercises around sexual trauma, creative opportunities, and connection with your sisters.
      • This retreat is open to guests 18 and older, and who identify as female.
      • Childcare available through 5th grade.
      • Friday 5:30-9PM; Saturday 1-8:00PM.
      • Cost $50 (sliding scale as needed)

  • October 20: From Exodus to Resurrection: A Theological Discussion with Youth
    • This monthly Bible discussion invites high school youth to explore the meaning of Bible stories in today’s world. Led by author and youth parent Gary Peluso, this course helps youth think about how ancient stories can be relevant to their lives. The goal is to affirm that it's possible to be Bible-literate in a liberal or progressive faith. Parents are invited to join in, but the focus is on giving youth the space to develop their own thoughts and perspectives.
  • October 20: Men of All Souls Bowling for Fellowship:
    • Men of All Souls invite you for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and bowling. All genders welcome! Join us at the Dust Bowl from 4-6PM.

Week Of October 21 - 27

  • October 25 & 26: Churchwide Garage Sale:
    • Drop off your lightly used goods on Friday, October 25, between 11AM and 7PM. The garage sale itself is on Saturday, October 26, from 9AM-3PM. Proceeds will benefit the Coming of Age Trip to Boston this spring.
  • October 27: Halloween Festival:
    • Join us on the west playground from 12:15PM-1:30PM for a hauntingly good time. Wear your costumes to church and come to play! We'll have pizza for $1 a slice, plus, games, face painting, fortune telling, and crafts. Children will have story and crafts to prepare in the morning while youth and adults prepare the festivities.

Week Of October 28 - November 3

  • November 3: Pansy Planting For All Ages:
    • Children and youth will work together to beautify our garden spaces for the winter months by planting pansies with the help of Margaritte Arthrell-Knezek. Adults are needed for this hands-on activity.
